EMV payments

The very idea of ticketing has changed: maximum payment flexibility, no need to purchase a ticket in advance, and the guarantee of paying the Best Fare.

Make contactless   payments using your credit or debit card, as well as prepaid and digitised cards on your smartphone or smartwatch. Cash payments and paper tickets are no longer necessary.

In addition to tickets purchased from the Venezia Unica sales network, from self-service machines and the network of authorised dealers, as well as tickets purchased via the App or WhatsApp, the validator supports the following payment methods: contactless credit, debit or prepaid cards (Mastercard, Visa, Visa pay, Maestro and American Express). This means cards with the symbol  and digitised cards on payment-enabled devices (smartphones, smartwatches and wearables).

Tickets activated: € 1.50 standard ticket urban and extra-urban bus network (not valid on the waterborne network) with mandatory tap-in and tap-out in the tram, people mover, € 10.00 AEROBUS ticket hon the dedicated vehicles with origin/destination Marco Polo Airport in Venice fare with mandatory tap-in and tap-out, the urban waterborne  network: € 9.50 for the standard 75-minute Rete Unica ticket and the € 1.50 Venezia Unica network price reserved for Venezia Unica card holders. In the event of an inspection by the control officers, travellers will be required to present the bank card or device used for payment.

THE EXPANDED RANGE OF TICKET OPTIONS

  • daily and multi-day tickets on the routes of the urban network
  • the Best Fare that can be applied is calculated based on the number of journeys made and the corresponding validity period.

For example: to obtain the Best Fare Venezia Daily Pass price of €25.00, a passenger only has to make 3 journeys within 24 hours of the first validation of a ticket, including on the waterborne network (the first tap at a price of €9.50). Customers can therefore enjoy unlimited travel for €25.00 instead of €28.5 for 24 hours from their first purchase (tap). For travel on the suburban network, the Best Rate purchase price requires tapping in and then tapping out of the vehicle in order to accurately calculate the price corresponding to the area(s) of use (according to the polymetric price list). Otherwise, the full price of suburban transport is charged.

Mestre Daily pass 1 day (24 hours) 5,00 €
Venezia Daily pass 1 day (24 hours)* 25,00 €
Biglietto 2 days (48 hours) 35,00 €

FAQ

I have swiped my card but an error message has appeared on the screen.

Please check that the card you are using is of the type listed above, that it is valid (expiry date) and that it is contactless . All contactless Mastercard, Visa, Maestro and VPay American Express cards are accepted. Pagobancomat is excluded.

How do I know if my purchase has been successful?

Authorisation is confirmed by an audible beep and a green confirmation light on the screen.

Is it compulsory to tap on entry and to tap on exit?

Yes: otherwise the system is unable to identify the departure or destination stop and calculate the correct cost for the trip. In this case, the customer would be charged the maximum standard fare for the transport network used is charged (for example € 10.00 for the Aerobus routes). If a tap-out is not performed on the urban public transport bus network on the mainland, the maximum suburban rate is charged.

Can the EMV system also be used for other people travelling with me?

Yes, it is possible to pay up to a maximum of 5 passengers using the same device: taps must be made within 60 seconds and it is compulsory to always travel together

What happens if I board a vehicle and the validators are not working?

The EMV service will not be available: inform the staff (driver or crew member) immediately and purchase your ticket using one of the many other payment options available: Chat&Go by muoversivenezia and the AVM Venezia official APP. You can also purchase your ticket on board during navigation. Simply ask the staff on deck.

How do I check my validations?

After registering your profile, you will have access to the Traveller's Portal, where you can see all the transactions made with your card.

I am a Venezia Unica cardholder and I want to travel with my payment card, how can I obtain the special rates reserved for me?

You will have the option of registering online portaleclienti.avmspa.it and associating your bank card with the customer profile of your Venezia Unica card.

Any system malfunction does not exempt the customer from paying for the ticket: if there are technical problems, travellers must purchase a replacement ticket and promptly submit a refund request using the online form available in the "Customer Services" section of the AVM/Actv websites.

I have a ticket with an Alilaguna QR code. How can I access the transport services at shared stops?

You need to press the QR code button on the screen and place the ticket on the base of the validator, then wait for the green signal.
