Waterborne services in foggy conditions

In compliance with Venice Port Authority Ordinance n°. 175/09 (updated on May 1, 2016) on navigation in restricted visibility in the Lagoon of Venice, the AVM/Actv Operations Centre will apply changes to scheduled services consistent with the resources used in terms of crews and transport means and will ensure that all services resume normal operation at the end of the emergency event.

There are 12 visibility sensors (electronic instruments that measure the visibility in metres in poor weather conditions) positioned to cover the entire lagoon and detect the visibility thresholds (more than 150 metres, less than 150 metres and less than 70 metres).

Nevertheless, any assessment to continue the trip safely is always at the discretion of the master of the vessel as well as any consequent restrictions along the route with respect to the rescheduled timetables.
AVM/Actv will inform of any changes to the services through the corporate social media channels @muoversivenezia, the user-info panels at the waterbus stops, through the DIME call center +39 041 041 and the Infomobilità page.
