ACTV WATERBORNE EMERGENCY SERVICES DURING HIGH TIDE

During high tide, Actv waterborne services may be changed with possible limitations to routes due to high water levels. Different water levels may affect transit under bridges or make the pontoon inaccessible. The Actv Operations Centre will decide when to apply the following changes to water services and when to restore normal services. (see the map)

TIDE LEVEL +85 CM
S.Marcuola landing stops, if the water level reaches +95 cm., is operating in both directions, only the landing of the left (point of view the Grand Canal).

TIDE LEVEL +95 CM
If the water level reaches +95 cm., transit is prohibited under the Rio di Cannaregio, Canale della Scomenzera and Canale Brentella bridges (between Tronchetto and P.le Roma). As a consequence, the routes involved are those of Giracittà 4.1 – 4.2 -5.2 - 6 and route 2, subject to route changes or splitting.

Route 4.1/4.2 – Transit between Tre Archi and P.le Roma and back is suspended; the route is split in two sections: at the Tre Archi stop, route 4.1 incoming waterbuses (direction: P.le Roma), change their route service, serving route 4.2 (direction: F.te Nuove – Murano); at the S. Zaccaria stop, route 4.2 incoming waterbuses (direction: Giudecca) change their route service, serving route no. 4.1 (direction: F.te Nuove – Murano). The S. Zaccaria Jolanda stop is suspended and, in order to facilitate the Giracittà – Route 2 change of means (from and to Giudecca – Tronchetto), it will be rerouted to the Vittorio Emanuele Monument waterbus stop.

Route 5.1/5.2 – Transit between Tre Archi and p.le Roma and back is suspended. The Lido – P.le Roma route transits along the Grand Canal with halfway stops at Accademia and Ferrovia (railway station). The route Tre Archi – Lido and back via F.te Nuove operates as usual with departures following the official timetable.

Murano Colonna, in case of high tide exceeding cm. 95, after 20.00, becomes operational, for all destinations, only the landing C.

Route 6 – The service is rerouted along the Grand Canal with halfway stops at Accademia and Ferrovia (railway station). Departures from the P.le Roma and Lido terminals follow the official timetable.

Route 2 – The service is split in two: S. Zaccaria M.V.E. – Giudecca –Tronchetto; S. Marco Giardinetti – P.le Roma.
Actv buses operate on the Tronchetto/ Santa Marta route and back.
The shuttle boat service operates from Piazzale Roma to Tronchetto at minutes 10 - 30 -50.
The shuttle boat service operates from Tronchetto to Piazzale Roma at minute 0 - 20 -40.

Route 3 (from P.le Roma to Murano) is suspended.

Sacca Fisola/S.ta Marta shuttle boat service - The shuttle boat service operates from Sacca Fisola to S.ta Marta and back. The other services do not change their routes or timetable.

TIDE LEVEL +130 CM
Transit under the Murano island’s Vivarini bridge is prohibited; therefore the connection of routes 4.1/4.2 in the Museum – Venier stretch is suspended.
This service plan operates with water level up to +140 cm.
With water levels expected above + 120 cm, Actv will implement  a monitoring and emergency service with the support of a fully equipped motorboat and crew, together with a team of workers for minor emergency repairs to the structures (pontoons), in order to keep safely active the structures served by the services (e.g. breakage of chains, sinking of gangplanks etc.). As a consequence, there may be partial suspensions at certain stops, although the aforementioned global service plan will still be operating.

TIDE EXPECTED ABOVE +140 CM
The waterborne services may be subject to further route limitations and/or stop suspensions due not only to pedestrian difficulties on land, but also to the reduced safety conditions deriving from passengers boarding/alighting operations, bad weather conditions, strong wind and waves. In such conditions the following routes will continue to operate as normal:
12 and 14 – connection F.te Nuove – Murano Faro –Mazzorbo –Bruano – Torcello – Treporti – P.ta Sabbioni – Lido – San Marco San Zaccaria (Pietà) and back.
17 – Ferryboat connection from Lido S. Nicolò to Tronchetto and back
11 – Ferry-boat connection from Alberoni to S.ta Maria del Mare (Pellestrina) and back
11 – Motor-vessel connection from Pellestrina to Chioggia
13 – Connection F.te Nuove – Vignole – Sant’Erasmo

Considering their peculiarity, connections between the city centre and the islands (Giudecca, Murano, S. Lazzaro and S.Servolo) will be operating, even partially, in accordance with the structures safety conditions.
During high tide conditions, the Actv Operations Centre will be in direct contact with the Venice Tide Centre, and users will be promptly alerted of any implementation of the emergency plan by the lit displays placed at company pontoons, with direct information by the on-board staff and by calling the call center Hellovenezia 041 24.24.
